The socio-technology evolution
AI will forever change how we work. AI’s (near) future revolves around Collaborative Intelligence: Humans and AI work together to get the most from both parties’ skills. This future of force multiplier will not be about polar extremes but finding the sweet spot of how humans and machines work together. Combining machine precision and human creativity will create the next generation of AI and human resources management.
Future competitive advantage will be built on how well companies can build, operate, and govern AI agents (digital assistants). These agents will work alongside human coworkers, working on their own tasks or helping humans complete theirs.
Historical technology capabilities will be insufficient to manage this socio-technical evolution – new functions and capabilities will need to be developed, and existing ones rethought, optimizing human<>AI interactions – the ultimate divergent digital workforce.
The organizations that win at incorporating agents into their workforce will achieve a competitive advantage.
They will need agent policies, systems, and procedures to do this. Within this context, AI agents will need equivalent boundaries to those placed on human resources in their role as agents of an organization.
An agent workforce will require agent resource management. At the same time, human resources will need to be trained to be more effective in working with these AI agents.
